VIDOS
Video Management System software empowers professional security,
safety, and surveillance operations around the world to view
and react to events directly from a PC.
Directly from the PC or laptop, VIDOS allows observation,
recording, and reaction to events.
Designed for maximum usability, the PC workstation-based software
uses graphical maps for a fast, simple, intuitive user experience.
VIDOS uses a conventional tree structure to manage all entities
in the CCTV system, including cameras, monitors, and alarms.

VIDOS
is a one-stop solution, with everything you need to view
and control fixed and PTZ cameras from an extensive range
of providers. Fast response times ensure that cameras follow
your every move. Sophisticated guard tours, PTZ presets,
automated recording, and fast, seamless switching from one
analog monitor to another ensures continuity in the hunt
for significant events.
In addition to real-time video management, system administrators
use VIDOS to set up and configure the system by automatically
scanning the network for compatible devices, while continuously
monitoring the health of key components.
During VIDOS system configuration, administrators create
various trigger alarms, including alarm inputs, motion detection,
video loss, and video contrast. Interval and weekday timers
are used in conjunction with the alarms, to react only when
necessary, such as when motion is detected during the night.
Upon receiving an alarm, VIDOS can be configured to switch
a specific camera to the workstation or analog monitor,
start the NVR recording, or drive external behavior by running
other software.
VIDOS can be used with, or instead of hardware decoders
and associated analog monitors. It is the single point to
which encoders can stream DVD-quality (MPEG-2), and high
quality (MPEG-4) video and audio, as well as alarm information.
It is also the single point for camera control and relay
activation.
Key advantages of VIDOS IP-based video systems include the
simplicity and elegance of the network cabling, and digital
integration to other systems such as access panels. VIDOS-based
video systems also offer access to global resources across
the building, the region, the country, or the world, including
follow-the-sun VIDOS surveillance workstations and long-term
storage via VIDOS-NVR network video recorders.
User and Group privileges ensure operator access to predefined
functionality, especially cameras and recordings stored
in encoders, and VIDOS-NVR.
To maximize reliability and performance, VIDOS is available
pre-installed on pre-configured and tested VIDOS workstations,
or, it is available as software only. License levels are
based on the sum of the number of cameras (encoders), analog
monitors (decoders) and NVRs on the network. The options
are 16, 32, 64 and unlimited devices.

VIDOS-NVR
provides a long-term storage and retrieval solution for video
and audio as part of a Bosch Video IP installation. Comprised
of three key components; management software, a server platform,
and RAID 5 storage, VIDOS-NVR scales to handle an unlimited
number of cameras and users.

VIDOS-NVR
receives MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 video across the network from Bosch
Video IP encoders including the VIP and VideoJet range. Because
VIDOS-NVR is network-based, it is fundamentally different from
conventional digital video recorders (DVRs) and video cassette
recorders (VCRs). NVRs can be securely positioned anywhere on
the network, whereas DVRs and VCRs are colocated where the coax
from the cameras terminates. A VIDOS-NVR server has a single
gigabit ethernet connection coming in, whereas DVRs and VCRs
have one connection for each camera input. This simplification
in cabling is a major driver in the adoption of network-based
video.
Automatic Network Replenishment technology (ANR; patent pending)
ensures that there is no video loss during network interruption.
In some facilities, network outages are a real concern; video
loss for even a moment is unacceptable.
When
part of a network carrying video is exposed (as in wireless
across a parking lot, or along a highway or train track), the
probability of network failure or excessive noise may be even
higher. In this setting, VIDOS-NVR tracks every encoder, noting
any lapses. Though the encoder is out of reach, it is still
recording video locally, either on a compact flash card (VideoJet
10), or on an internal hard drive (VideoJet 1000). When communication
is restored, the encoder resumes live transmission and replenishes
the gap in the video on the NVR server.
The
VIDOS-NVR management software is available per NVR server in
three versions; 16, 32, or 64 channel licenses, depending on
the number of cameras being recorded. This software is used
to configure each NVR server, and once installation and setup
are complete, VIDOS-NVR runs seamlessly in the background to
manage the connections, access and storage.
VIDOS-NVR
has been tested for compatibility with the 19 in. rack-mountable
VIDOS-NVR server (also available from Bosch). This server guarantees
high performance and reliability, and is available preconfigured
with the software (license purchased separately).
Each
VIDOS-NVR server streams incoming video and audio to one or
two RAID 5 disk arrays for storage. The 19 in. rack-mountable
disk arrays are available in various sizes, ranging from 960
GB to 6.4 TB, and from 6 to 16 hot-swappable hard drives. This
offers weeks or months of archived video depending on the system
configuration. |
